Coulda, woulda, shoulda… been a wedding dress! (Oscar Recap)February 28th, 2011
The glory and absolutely staggering site of starlets on the red carpet truly takes the world by storm. Not only those getting dressed for a big night out (you’ll see knock-offs of Oscar dresses on the rack soon, promise!) but brides look to see what beautiful creations may inspire the seasons of weddings to-be. So which gowns this year coulda, woulda, shoulda and heck- may soon be inspiring our brides? Take a peak. While some are in color, in my minds eye I can see a soft white or clever cream could clearly make magic.
So here they are… the star and the bride she could be!

Sandra Bullock- classic bridal (in white)
Halle Berry- glittering city bride and top notch modern princess
Mila Kunis- summer bride, garden wedding
Gweyneth Paltrow-modern fabulous, golden dreamy (tall drink of water)
Hailee Steinfeld & Mandy Moore- a princess and queen look both with golden sparkle

Alix & Kelly BridalDecember 15th, 2009
Over a little wine and some sketch pads, costume designers, Alix & Kelly, decided that they needed to put an end to outlandish bridesmaid dresses. With their background in designing and hearing from women over the years, they created dresses that would flatter the different female body types and dresses that can be worn again! Imagine that, your bridesmaid dress being so elegant and fashionable that you wanted to show it off some more. These ladies did not just limit themselves in bridesmaid dresses, they also feature simple, ethereal bridal gowns (perfect for a beach wedding), matching neckties for the groomsmen, flower girl dresses, and sashes to match.
With it’s open and bright showroom, it becomes a great place to bring your bridesmaids and have the perfect gown experience. Bring a cup of coffee or some lunch and lounge on the patio in their Los Angeles studio.
Check out Alix & Kelly’s dresses come to life in the weddings below. You can find out what each dress is on their site’s style file.

At a recent show I came across Two Birds Bridesmaid dresses. While this was not the first time that I have seen them I was once again taken. This versatile line can truly be worn by bridesmaids of all shapes and sizes in a variety of ways. The owner and creator Ariane Goldman has created a gorgeous line of dresses in a multitude of colors. If you would like to see more (as well as “how to” create the looks above) check out her user friendly website. Should you like to try one on you can borrow a dress by going online or visit your local Bella Bridesmaid store.

Bridal Hat TrickJune 28th, 2008
My Grandmother is a huge Lakers fan. In her honor, I offer three of my top picks. Hat tricks aren’t always as easy as this one, promise.
First thing, first. I fall in love quickly. So I have to introduce you to a bridesmaid gown line that I love. Worth a look- or seven. Twobirds Bridesmaid dresses. Same dress, that can be worn a handful of ways (wrap and twist and tie). Their website shows the “how to’s”. You pick the color, your girls order the dress and together you decide on the style that suites them and you. Very cool and custom colors are available.

Where might one find these treasures? At Bella Bridesmaid in Los Angeles (look on their website for national locations). I met with the girls (Shelley and Andrina) in the studio this past week. Recently I have heard of myriad of issues about all of those popular, crowded, in-it-to-win it salons, this one is a big breath of sweet serenity. This boutique has a host of designers (I needn’t name drop) and they’ll take care of you and your girls. Make sure to make an appointment because only one group of girls can be there at a time. Very personal service. Say hi to Andrina for me, she is a doll, and her wedding is just three weeks away!
What completes a trifecta? The perfect day with your girls, satisfaction guaranteed. Something sweet and ultra-fem. I love sweets and have been following cupcakes since the tiered cover of Martha Stewart Weddings, way back when. What’s the newest better thing? Macarons. What? No no, not the coconut and chocolate confections of the corner cafe. Check out Paulette Macarons in Beverly Hills. Delicate, unique, handmade, double-decker sweets. My favorites are Carmel Pecan and the Caribbean chocolate. They are so beautiful and as light as air. (Sorry Vanilla, I still love you.)

Tell the boys you’ve just planned a hat trick, it’ll make my Grandmother and any sport fan impressed.
She shoots- you score!
